The Buena Vista trail in the Teitipac region of the Tlacolula valley is a pleasant 7.7 kilometers / 4.8 mile round trip excursion on a jeep road that leads eventually to San Bartolo Coyotepc. The elevation gain is moderate – 174 meters / 572 feet – on this out & back hike, starting at the village church in San Antonio Buena Vista and climbing to the top of the ridge separating the Tlacolula and Zimatlan valleys. While the route is highly walkable, there are a few places where you have to scramble over or around rocks. After the hike the group will stop for lunch at any of several pleasant restaurants in Santa Maria el Tule.
