Of all the villages of the Pueblos Mancomunados, Llano Grande perhaps has the most unique charm, seeming to be a place removed from the normal parameters of space and time. It is a great place to go hiking or mountain biking, or to use a cabin at the ecotourism camp to get away for a few days. Be aware that Llano Grande sits at an elevation of 10,000 feet (3048 meters), which may make breathing difficult for visitors from locations near sea level. The altitude also guarantees chilly temperatures, particularly when there is cloud cover and rain – which is not unusual, even in the dry season. Visitors should come prepared with layered clothing and rain gear, which may be left in the van if the weather is sunny and warm. Our hike will take us to a picturesque cascada as our destination for the outing.
